Hello everyone, I do apologize for my absence. I've been quite busy editing and doing voice work on my documentary as well as UEA promotional materials. In honor of one year being here on Yomi with all of you, I've prepared a video montage of all the accomplishments we have made since our arrival. I do hope you enjoy it. If there are celebrations, perhaps I will see you there. Thank you all for being here with me.

Marui sir, I apologize for my lateness on getting this finished. I had planned for it to be done by your birthday, but some other deadlines needed to be met first. I realize this is unlikely to be as wonderful as other presents you might receive, but I thought you would appreciate the sentiment nonetheless.

Despite transportation troubles, the last mission was quite the success, in my opinion. I took at least 72 hours worth of ambient footage and it is quite mesmerizing. I found myself distracted more than once during review to see what needed to be cut. One of my cameras did get quite a bit of footage of the mini-crab ~~pilgrimage~~ ~~migration~~ ~~journey~~ ~~exodus~~ infestation. They remind me more of caterpillars, minus around 86 legs, with the way they moved about. Thankfully they did not ruin any equipment, but I did find a group in my lens bag during the decontamination process. Very interesting how they group together like that, most likely for protection's sake as they're likely easy prey if separated. I would've liked to see what they were running from, but I'm not sure we would've had the right tools to fight back if it's as big as a crawler or a sandworm. The flamethrower can only do so much. Renji ~~sir~~, the videos I've sent this time around are more picturesque rather than adventurous. I was trying to convey the environment as inticing. Please enjoy.

I did not enjoy the spike in heat if only because I had to deal with my system slightly overheating. Thankfully, nothing was damaged. The cold has actually been quite beneficial. For once, my systems are running cooler than normal. I realize this isn't the norm and will likely go back to the previous, comfortable temperatures. The boon with the cooler temps is that I've been able to finish more editing and recording than usual. Renji ~~sir~~, I've sent you some additional promo videos that I hope you will approve of. Please let me know if there are any edits you'd like me to make.

My apologies for my absence as of late. Between the expedition, preparing for Christmas, working on the next bit of my documentary, and promotional materials for the UEA, time got away from me. Of course, I'm still working on the last two, as always, and also preparing my equipment for the next mission. Since I'm here and have little use of credits, I gave my parents access to my account so they wouldn't have to spend their own monies if and when I needed equipment. I managed to get myself the best of everything before I came here, but I was quite surprised when I received my December communications. My parents sent two new curved touchscreen monitors that I had contemplated getting before leaving, but wasn't entirely sure I would need. Of course, I mentioned that I regretted not making the purchase in one of my previous missives home, but didn't think much of it as I didn't necessarily need them; I thought they might take up less space in my office and also be useful for editing. Now that I have them though, I'm quite glad my family decided to go ahead and send them to me. I also asked in my November communications that they use my account to get presents for my siblings and themselves. I'm pleased that I finally make enough to supplement their income so they can get things for themselves they normally would go without. I hope everyone had a good holiday and got everything they wanted.

Sadly, one of the first camcorders I ever bought (one that takes an old technology called VHA) accidentally got broken while my parents were doing some cleaning up and moving things into storage that I don't need right now. While disappointing, it was mostly just for learning about the medium rather than actually use for filming. I'm going to tell them that it's fine as accidents do happen and it's not like they did it on purpose. My mom sent me a list of the items in each box so that if I do need something, I'll be able to let them know which box the item is in. Very useful. My order of new equipment arrived last month, so I've been spending time setting everything up and configuring it so that it works how I want it to. So far, it's working great, but the real test will come when I do some heavy editing for the next section of my documentary. Thank you to everyone who has participated in interviews.

Hello. I was wondering if Marui sir could have access to the footage regarding the crawler attacks during the expedition he was a member of. Are there any parts he can't view? My apologies for being incommunicado. The caves were quite interesting, but I got some great footage. Using the flamethrower was quite awesome too. Thank you, Inui sir, Akutagawa sir, and Renji ~~sir~~ for being a very good team to be with. There wasn't much news from home; everyone is doing well. They're all happy and healthy, so I'm very relieved.

Being at the mining outpost has been quite interesting. Gakuto sir let me watch his demolitions from a safe distance and I got some rather good footage. There seems to be an almost endless supply of gold. Tooyama sir literally found a gold mine. I am curious as to what will be done with it. Given that this is a new colony, I'm sure the scientists on Yomi will discover new and interesting ways to work with the material. I, for one, can't wait to see what they do. While I haven't been able to see what items, if any, arrived for me in the August drop, I did receive notice that my littler brother won at the Nationals swim meet in his events. Gold in the 400m freestyle and bronze in the 200m breaststroke. I'm insanely proud of him and I know the rest of the family is too. My mom spent a good 10 minutes giving me a play-by-play along with video of the matches. He gets some time off now from competition, but I know he's still going to be in the water at 0500 every day trying to get better.

There was only one message in my communications this month. My goldfish, Kodak, passed away. He was 12 years old. I knew it would happen as his swimming had gotten slower in the months prior to my trip, which is why I didn't bring him with me to Yomi. ~~Plus, with how the chickens mutated, I'm not sure that my fish wouldn't have done the same.~~ They gave him a proper funeral and provided a picture of him in his fish tank from before he was found deceased. My brother had been taking care of him in my absence, so I'm okay knowing that Kodak was well taken care of in his final months. On the topic of death, Byodoin sir and Tooyama sir were amazing during the expedition and rescue, both taking out very large creatures without blinking an eye. I'm currently in the process of editing -- Renji ~~sir~~, please check your comms this Saturday for the next promo videos -- as rewatching the material is quite inspiring. I know my editors will absolutely love this next segment. If anyone would like to see some of the battles, please let me know and I'll send a small clip.

I finished a round of edits just in time for the communications retrieval, so I sent my footage (raw and edited) along with transcripts to my editors back on Prime. I also completed five different promotional videos for Yomi/Izunagi, so please look forward to them, Renji-san. I attached my cost breakdown along with the appropriate paperwork. If I need to make any changes, I will be happy to do so. On the subject of communications, I received some from my family. My little brother made buchou of his high school's swim team. I am very proud of him. I was on a tennis team briefly in junior high, but I chose to shift my focus in high school and joined the AV Club instead. Akira has always been more athletic than me, so this does not come as a surprise. I sent back that I was proud and wished him luck in his upcoming tournaments. I did not tell them about the deck of trading cards I received with pictures of members of the colony. For one, I didn't know if I could and there wasn't time to ask. Secondly, some of them seemed a little risque. However, I have decided to use them for one of the side stories in my Yomi documentary about morale on base. Considering what I have witnessed and read since the cards were shared, I think they have been a great success morale-wise, but I do wish some people would take matters to their rooms for privacy. While I haven't experienced such things, I can say the idea of such public displays fills me with a sort of dread that I would very sincerely like to avoid if at all possible.

Hello. I have arrived safely back from the expedition to the water belt. After spending a long weekend in the medbay, I am happy to say that I am none the worse for wear. I did feel rather sorry for Oshitari sir. I'm not sure if he came down with something while on the mission, but he looked quite ill during quarantine. Whether it was the constant fussing by Atobe sir or the sprays or the strange smelling meal, I can't be sure, but I wish him a speedy recovery nonetheless. I got quite some good footage from the expedition, especially that of teamwork between Uion sir, Hiyoshi sir, and Oshitari sir. I think it will be good for the promotional materials that ~~Yanagi sir~~ ~~Renji sir~~ Renji-san wanted. Now that I am out of quarantine, I have been working diligently at getting a short video together to highlight the Yomi experience. Thank you to those individuals who have already given short tours of their work areas and allowed me time for short interviews to use in my documentary. It is much appreciated.
